Ghumot Drum Workshop — The Goan Skin Drum

The ghumot is a clay pot with a monitor-lizard skin, historically — now legally goatskin — and it is the sound underneath every Goan folk form. Three hours: the two strokes, the pitch bend you get with your palm on the open end, and three traditional patterns. Drums provided.
